The First Amendment

By R Pineiro

The United States Constitution is something that is always in debate.  When it was originally adopted in 1787 the world was a much different place.  Now, almost 200 years later, there is a lot of debate about the effectiveness of the U.S. Constitution and whether or not it is a living document, open for interpretation; or if it should be followed to the letter.  Congress realized as the years went by after initially adopting the U.S. Constitution that some issues needed to be addressed, which is where the Amendments come in.  The rights set forth in the Constitution, as well as in the Constitutional Amendments, are ones which people fight tooth and nail for.  The very first Amendment…

All in a day's work in US Government: political scandals

Posted by Neil Lynch, Editor on June 14, 2011 at 12:41pm 2 Comments

Scandal in Washington seems to be a way of life and it seems to be growing in frequency. There are literally hundreds of well known scandals, which taken individually are fascinating, and as a whole are alarming. From the stunning world-changing Watergate coverup to the near-daily smaller scandals, Washington seems to thrive on them. Every administration, from Obama right down through history, has had several:

2009 Obama Administration

Includes several violations and guilty verdics from the House Ethics Committee, a resignation by John Ensign from the Senate to pre-empt action by the Committee, to money laundering (Tom Delay R of Texas.)

2001-2008 George W. Bush Administraiton

The list is much longer during Dubyah's admin, from famous Lwyergate to various FBI investigations to perjury to e-mail controversies to the Jack Abramoff bribery scandal. The list is five times as long for George W. versus his father George H.W.… Continue

Facebook faces $1 billion dollar suit over hate against Israel page

Posted by Neil Lynch, Editor on April 2, 2011 at 10:43pm 1 Comment

Both Mark Zuckerberg personally, and Facebook have dismissed a suit from the founder of Freedom Watch as "without merit" and will fight the $1 billion dollar claim for punitive damages.

Facebook had already taken down the hate page after complaints from Israeli Public Diplomacy Minister Yuli Edlestein, but Larry Klayman, who brought the suit, feels it's insufficient.

Facebook claims the page was tolerated because it began "as a call for peaceful protest" but spiraled out of control with calls for violence and Intifada. The page had 500,000 fans—none of whom were brought into the law suit. The suit also demands a court offer preventing Facebook from having any page titled "Third Palestinian Intifada or other related and similar sites, which advocate violence and death to Jews"

Comments on various sites, from Yahoo to Facebook include comments "this is a little ridiculous" to "bout time someone sued Zuckerberg for negligence!" to hate messages.

Crystal Cathedral forces choir to sign anti-gay sex covenant

Posted by Neil Lynch, Editor on March 17, 2011 at 12:29pm 0 Comments

The woes for the so-called megachurch—the gigantic Californian crystal cathedral featured in the Hour of Power show—continue. The financially bankrupt organization now faces allegations they required choir members to sign a sex covenant.  The signed document included a "pledge" that they hated gay marriage.

One assumes the gay faithful will not flock to the bankrupt cathedral with their ample incomes.

Did Rush go too far in laughing at Japan as he says "and yet, Gaia levels them! Just wipes them out!"

Posted by Jared on March 16, 2011 at 11:02pm 1 Comment

The republican king-maker Rush Limbaugh let his darker side show again on his show as he handled a call-in about the disaster in Japan. Apparently unsympathetic to the thousands who have died, he said of the Japanese: "They've given us the Prius. Even now, refugees are recycling their garbage (he laughs) and yet, Gaia levels them! Just wipes them out!"

Don't mince words, Rush.

Mariah Carey's four Jack Russells need therapy

Mariah is taking her four dogs to see a pet psychologist to prepare the way for the arrival of her children. Jack Russells can be jealous, you know?

Um… maybe it's not the JRs that need therapy?

Leave it to Bieber. Girls line up to kiss Bieber-licious Wax Statue.

Girls lined up to swap cold germs, kissing the same cold, wax cheek of Justin Bieber—the wax likeness featured at Madame Tussauds. Not to be outdone, Bieber posed with Bieber.

I'm glad there's nothing creepy about this scene or…

bing's Tweet on Japan's tragedy creates rage on Twitter

Posted by Neil Lynch, Editor on March 13, 2011 at 1:12pm 0 Comments

Twitter followers became enraged over bing's perceived publicity attempt on their Twitter account. "How you can #SupportJapan -For every retweet, bing will give $1 to Japan quake victims, up to $100K."

Someone in PR underestimated the savvy Twitter nation, believing they could raise bing's profile with a paltry donation to Japan's victims. Perhaps it was the lack of compassion, or the overt grab for publicity. Perhaps it was the language. But a #fuckyoubing movement exploded across the internet, driven by comedian Michael Ian Black's initial post: "Fuck you, @bing. For every RT, I'll donate one inch of my dick up to 100k inches. #fuckyoubing"

Other choice comments:

• "For every RT, @ bing will…

Did Larry show a dark side? Or was his insensitive remark on Japan's Tsunami a blooper?

Posted by Neil Lynch, Editor on March 12, 2011 at 8:29pm 0 Comments

Larry Kulow, the guy many love to hate did it again. Fresh from his antics burning the American dollar on network TV, he's on to insensitive remarks on the tragedy in Japan. On his network he said "The human toll here looks to be much worse than the economic toll and we can be grateful for that?"

Grateful for that?

Was this a blooper? Insensitive remark? Genuine relief his portfolio wasn't impacted? You tell us.

Video of Kudlow burning the American dollar (I don't have video of the new remarks, but will post when available!)
